How Long Does a Fire Door Last?
In terms of lifespan, a fire door can last upwards of 10 years if they are well maintained and inspected every 6 months. Of course, there are factors that come into play such as how frequently the fire door is used, whether it has been exposed to fire damage etc.

Where Fire Doors are Required
There are many areas within a building where fire doors are required, these include:

Flats
If a flat is above 4.5 meters, fire doors are required across all habitable rooms, hallways and entrances to each flat.

Mixed-Use Buildings
In rooms that connect residential and commercial areas there needs to be a fire door between them.

Residential Buildings
Fire doors are required in all entryways such as stairways and habitable rooms in buildings that house two or more domestic premises. It is also required to have a fire door in the entryway to a loft conversion and between the door to an integral garage where it connects to a house.
Communal Areas
Fire doors are also required in communal areas of houses of multiple occupation (HMO), blocks of flats and maisonettes.
